These awesome little dish gardens are pre-planted with at least one Purple Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea) and two Venus Flytraps (Dionea muscipula) in a self-contained "bog" of quality sphagnum peat moss, complete with its own drain tray. A great introduction to carnivorous plants for kids or adults, and a fantastic teaching tool for school or homeschool! Simply water with distilled water often enough to keep the medium moist at all times, place in a warm, sunny location, and your mini-bog will thrive and flourish with little additional care. American Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia) are the classic example of the "pitfall" insect trap, while the Venus Flytrap (Dionea) has an active trapping mechanism, activated when insect prey bumps against a series of trigger hairs on the leaf. These plants enjoy warm summers outdoors and can be brought inside and allowed to go dormant for the winter in a cool spot. Alternatively, the plants can be transplanted into an outdoor garden bog or large container and grow happily outdoors for many years in appropriate climate zones.

Please note that all plants are carefully packaged and shipped in excellent condition from our nursery. Please inspect your package on arrival for an indication of damage. If the package has external or internal damage, take photos that clearly show the damage, including the condition of the plant(s). You will then need to contact the carrier (usually USPS) to file a claim. Any damage is the responsibility of the delivery carrier. We provide detailed care instructions with every order and are available by phone, email, and messenger to answer any questions that arise. Because we have no control over the care received once plants are in the customer's hands, we are unable to take responsiblity for their survival, but we have every reason to expect that following our care advice will result in success!
